MPRX Upgrade

Summary

The AI1200 and AR2200 combination RFID package from Transcore has been obsoleted. The MPRX is the replacement RFID radio for Railroad AEI. The MPASS card is the RailNET controller adapter sitting in the same place as the AI1200 reader card. Software for the MPRX conversion requires a LX-800 Minimum. Processor Requirements

If the site is equipped with a LPMTX or previous processor, a T10 Upgrade is required.

Frauscher Upgrade

Summary

The Frauscher wheel detector has been preferred by some wayside electronics departments and is suggested by Comet for its durability, and ability to be remote nulled and calibrated. Frauscher has offered an excellent mounting clamp that is helpful for maintenance crews to successfully remove and replace the sensor during track maintenance. Comet offers several kits to help make changing from a Tiefenbach wheel sensor to the Frauscher easy and straight forward. The operational requirement is a TDA-204 for direct connection of the sensor to the APU, or TDA-205 for external connection.

Considerations when Upgrading

If the site is direct connected, a TDA-204 is required. If the site is externally connected a TDA-205 is required.

If a Frauscher is externally connected the sensor is not capable of being remote Calibrated and Nulled.

Processor Upgrade

The RailNET AEI system has been developed over its 35 year life. The current processor is called the T10. If a processor upgrade is desired, the upgrade kit is listed below.
