MPRX Upgrade Kit
Transcore has developed the MPRX (Multiprotocol Reader Extreme, Figure 1) as a replacement to the AI1200/AR2200 RFID subsystem, which was previously utilized in Railnet AEI system. The MPRX is a next-generation RFID reader that supports Association of American Railroads (AAR) formatted tags. Comet Electronics has adopted this upgrade and provides a kit that includes the MPASS, a designed interface card unique to Comet that ensures a seamless upgrade from the AI1200/AR2200 to the MPRX. For low-medium speed sites (unrestricted up to 60 mph, restricted 40 mph): installation is like a single, multiplexed RF. Utilize one MPASS/MPRX, with connections to antenna ports 0 & 1. For high-speed sites (unrestricted up to 130 mph): installation is like a dual, dedicated RF. Utilize two MPASS/MPRX, with connections to antenna ports 0 on both MPRX units. This kit contains the parts and pieces required to upgrade a RailNET site from the Transcore single frequency RFID radio, the AR2200 and its associated reader card, the AI1200, to MPRX operation.

Compatibility
- The MPRX requires software version 5.2.0.17 or greater.
- This requires a LX-800. The MPRX is also compatible with 5.3 on a T10
- One kit is required for a single reader system. Systems with multiple readers, dedicated to each side of the track (typical for higher track speed ratings) will need one kit per reader, usually 2.
