Upgrading LPMTX Software on APU-102

From DocDepot

LPMTX

1. Review the hardware inventory file to verify minimum hardware requirements.
TYPE APUINFO.DAT
Network hardware is required, indicated by IRQ 10 shown for COM ports 3-6.
Minimum application version is for upgrade is 5.1.1 B98.
Startup ROM version 5.4
An additional file, RUNONCE.BAT, is required to upgrade on an LPMTX equipped APU102.The upgrade can be done if the Startup ROM is not 5.4, but the IBACKUP and IRESTORE commands will not function. (the display may look like it works, but it does not) If the update fails, a site may be inoperable and will likely require site visit for recovery.
2. Type the / (forward slash) to display application version if not in the APUINFO.DAT file.
3. Save a parameter dump off-line.
4. Perform BP
5. Use ZREC and upload the Payload File (All EXCEPT *.BAT files and ZIP.PSP). See Note below if connection is via dial-up.
6. Perform SHELL IBACKUP-requires full reboot
7. Wait about 20 minutes and reconnect to the APU
8. Send *.BAT and ZIP.PSP files from same folder as payload (different payloads will have different F.BAT).
9. Make sure all trains have reported to all active sessions.
10. Full Reboot
11. Wait about 5 minutes and reconnect to the APU
12. Type the / (forward slash)-it should indicate the new version. If new version is not indicated, type out the text file, DEAD.DIR for possible causes.
13. There is another utility to show application version and processing version for 5.1.1 B114 and higher. Command: SHELL VERSION. This will check payloads against a manifest file for content and CRC (file intregity). There may be differences in some files customized for specific customers. If in doubt, ask.

NOTE: The payload file is a very large file. If you are sending via dialup, be aware of the modem comm timeout. The APU may boot if you are connected over 30 minutes. Do not abort the transfer. Break connection, dial back up and use ZRECR to resume. Zmodem will pick up where it left off.

If you need to revert to previous version:

1. Make sure trains have reported to all active sessions. Trains recorded after IBACKUP was run will be lost.
2. Perform SHELL IRESTORE-requires full reboot (If running NetMRS, navigate to C:\AEI first)
3. Wait about 20 minutes and reconnect to the APU
4. Type the / (forward slash)-it should indicate the old version.
5. Clear trains and logs. MR and SR commands. The IRESTORE will still have the trains and logs from when the last IBACKUP was run. (LPMTX only)

The payload will still be there, so you just need the *.BAT and ZIP.PSP files to roll forward again.
